Fashion is a captivating aspect of society, allowing individuals to express their uniqueness and
enhance their attractiveness. This project transforms discarded clothes into extraordinary designs,
inspired by the resilience and ecological importance of turkey tail mushrooms. These mushrooms,
thriving on decaying wood, symbolize longevity and the connection between life and the
environment. Guided by the theme “Be great with confidence,” the project aims to heal the
environment through upcycling. Designs incorporate the mushrooms’ curved lines and vibrant
colours, translated into delicate ruffles echoing their graceful forms. Techniques like fabric
manipulation, texture development, colouring, and draping turn discarded textiles into sustainable,
fashionable pieces. Targeting urban women aged 25 to 35, the Spring/Summer 2023/24 evening
wear collection uses only upcycled fabrics, blending eco-consciousness with style. This approach
offers unique fashion while fostering sustainability in the apparel industry and paving the way for
technological innovations, promoting eco-friendly practices. |
