Abstract:
Plastic and textile waste from the fashion industry are major contributors to environmental
pollution, affecting ecosystems and communities worldwide. Addressing this urgent issue, this
paper presents “From waist to wardrobe: a sustainable awareness occasional wear fashion
collection” created from recycled plastics, fabric scraps, and leftover threads that would otherwise
contribute to the growing waste problem. Inspired by Goddess Gaia, the Greek mythological
“Mother Earth” who embodies the living, interconnected nature of our planet, the collection narrates
how human activities such as pollution, deforestation, and overconsumption endanger the Earth’s
health. K-Pop style dress silhouettes are used to achieve fashion trend.By merging sustainable
design with cultural influence, the fashion collection shows how fashion can transcend aesthetics
to become a powerful medium for raising awareness, sparking dialogue, and driving real-world
action against environmental degradation.
